at some point in 2013, friendly fires, andrew weatherall and timothy j fairplay (aka the asphodells), convened in an east london pub to discuss collaborating on new music together. the plan was to produce music that came from a place outside of their respective usual musical styles - a loose, open-ended process embarked upon for the pure joy of experimentation and collaboration rather than a specific end goal. the collaboration came on the back of two hugely successful friendly fires albums - 2008s debut friendly fires and 2011s follow up pala - and an acclaimed debut album from the asphodells in 2013s ruled by passion destroyed by lust, the latest in a long line of classic releases from andrew weatherall’s own rotters golf club label. the result is *before your eyes* and *velo* - two brand new tracks that take close to ten minutes each to reveal their full hypnotic glory. the tracks will be released as a aa-sided single on translucent, orange colored 12 inch vinyl and will be the inaugural release on friendly fires own telophase label.

limited double a side reissue of two classic disco bombs by 70s keyboardist don ray. with production duties undertaken by french electro-disco legend cerrone, both tracks are proper dancefloor weapons laden with heavy synths, bouncing b-lines and awesome punchy horns. first up is the amazing groove armada-sampled disco stomper standing in the rain, featuring powerful vocals over a searing groove that made it massive at the time. flip over for got to have loving, an exhilarating disco burner with hot sexy female vocals and a great breakdown later reworked by the revenge. superb double-header of must-have tracks - dont sleep!

the third album of depeche mode construction time again (1983) was the first one to include talented band member and arranger alan wilder to the mix. the album was recorded in john foxx s the garden studio in london and mixed in the famous hansa tonstudio in berlin, the latter being famous for its delivery of classic albums by artists like david bowie, iggy pop, nick cave and u2. experimenting with brand new instruments like the synclavier that allowed sampling to be manipulated musically, construction time again was a groundbreaking record that included industrial influences. these influences would come to full fruition on subsequent albums some great reward movlp940 and black celebration movlp947. songs like *pipeline*, *love in itself*, *shame* and *everything counts* turned out to become classic depeche material.

top quality remastered reissue of oses very rare and sought after old school vocoder electro jam *computer funk*, a stone cold classic with an awesome phat analogue bassline and some of the best vocoder vocals ever recorded. originally released back in 83 on the tiny florida label bound sound and produced by the great james mccauley, this is miami electro at its finest and it is easy to see why it has become such a holy grail with djs and collectors. must have.

here it is, the tenth and final chapter in the seaghdha story, as lo shea wraps up a monumental series with a special, limited 12 inch & cd compilation package. first up we get four more new tracks on the wax, its on is an atmospheric, driving house jam complete with melodic guitar effects, which ride the groove and combine with the devilishly deep low end to startling effect. got swagger strips things right back to the bone, a skeletal rhythm framework, those trademark atmospherics and rock solid low end. buchsheff sees us back in familiar lo shea territory, with a powerful warehouse rattler. finally to be sure brings it all home with a cinematic ambient piece. as if that wasnt enough we also have a hand-stamped cd comp, featuring those classic cuts from the earlier part of the series, which are now fetching serious change on the second hand market it is a great package, and a serious send off for what has been a hugely successful & widely supported musical endeavour.

oh yes, this a heavyweight bad boy on gamm from french beatmaker/producer izem. after his extensive travels around the globe the sound on the ep is influenced by africa, cuba as well as the middle east.
itt is an electronic take on a classic fela joint, celia (cruz) goes along a similar route but on the latin tip. both are pretty nasty and a near perfect marriage between futuristic productions and raw retro samples. finishing off the ep we get served a slice of arabic boogie using hipnotics hard to find boogie gem *are you lonely* and some fierce middle eastern vocals.

after 20 years of experience, gary martin couldnt resist a 12 inch that is also the 50th release for teknotika: a label from detroit that didnt exactly stick with the game when it switched to the mp3 format. *basking in blackness* is a composition of textured broken beat then classic four on the floor old school soul. *synthotika* is what would happen if a synthasizer could take over an orchestra. a track inspired by detroit peers no doubt. *every bit as beautiful* goes sensative deep house piano, a lil latin percussion and soaring eno-esque synths to top it off. the title is a bit sarcastic, let us face it, there is no life after techno!
